Team Concise relocate to Aspen

With work on the Forty(1)Design now in full swing, the need for daily Skype conferences with the designers, builders and suppliers became greater than ever.  Not wanting to take our fingers off the button or have his annual holiday interfering with proceedings, Tony Lawson decided to move “Team Concise” office out to Colorado for a couple of weeks.

We all took over a neat mountain pad, with stunning views to the Maroon bells.  With 3 feet of new powder and great spring skiing even the 2am conference calls and working across 3 time zones, (USA, Europe and China) didn’t stop us hit the slopes every day. KER’s office in Valencia was shut by the time “first tracks” kicked off.  And what do most sailors do when they are not racing hard?  Well ski hard!

As skiing towns go, Aspen, CO, is pretty special.  Situated at 8900ft its four mountains offer something for everyone. It’s got Verbier’s steeps, Courchevel’s groomed piste’s and NO QUEUES.  Lots of vertical per day.  It’s the only place in the world where you can ski double diamonds, take in an x-games terrain park and catch a 20 inch brown trout all in the same morning.  Our favourite ski town!

You only have to have lunch or enjoy a bit of après ski at hot spots such as the Ajax Tavern to see the skiing-sailing cross over in action.  Guys kicking off ski boots and stepping into topsiders.  Just as many people sporting Hugo Boss and Louis Vuitton as Moncler and Salomon.

Tony wasn’t idle either.  Meetings with “Ski Co” management has led to Team Concise agreeing to help promote this amazing resort town.  From September we will be sporting our 190 square meter “Aspen Snowmass Ski Co” spinnaker at events in UK, France, Brazil, Antigua, Barbados and the USA.
