Bitterly disappointed but safe

Concise2 has had to retire from the Transat Jacques Vabre with a structural problem to her hull. Last night's front was particularly strong and Ned Collier Wakefield and Sam Goodchild were seeing in excess of 50knots of wind and a confused seaway.

We would like to state that we do not require assistance at the moment and the  race committee is on standby were our situation to change. We are now sailing slowly downwind under just our staysail to seek refuge in the Acores.

We are both bitterly disappointed, but safe.
