I don’t know what’s worse, me waiting for my sons GCSE results to come through, or “feeling the pain”, (albeit at a distance), as Concise2 makes her steady but uncomfortable progress towards the Muckle Flugga, the most northerly rock in the British Isles and the race “turning point”.
Since roaring down to Dover, leaving a trail of boats in her wake, Concise 2 has gradually came onto the wind as she made her way up the North Sea. As any one who knows Class 40s will tell you, this is definitely not our most comfortable or efficient point of sail.
Currently she is 30 miles south of the Muckle Flugga lighthouse, battling hard to make the tidal gate there.
I would like to say that its all down hill from there, but as luck would have it, just as they turn the corner they are headed again and are likely to be hard on for another day or so before they get some respite.
Meanwhile Concise 2 has been caught up and overtaken by Tonerre a bigger IRC boat (it took her 550 miles to do it) but she remains ahead of a mass of other large boats with the closest 40 footer being 100 miles behind her.
The next few days are going to be really tricky. Lighter winds with small fronts all over the place. It’s going to be a real test of skill and patience. Mind you if they do as well as Callum did, (he got 9 straight GCSE A*s) they will be o.k.

Well done Callum - Amazing GCSE's. Just read Blog on Sevenstar Website - Who is Justin? Is he the yacht Concise ghost? Are you all seeing people that don't exsist?
