The Crew
Ned Collier Wakefield
Ned brings a vast amount of experience to the team, having raced at the sharp end of the class for the past 4 years. He successfully managed and skippered the 2009 winning Class 40 World Championship campaign and is now pushing the team towards bigger goals. When not on the water and managing the campaign Ned is finishing an architecture degree in Oxford.
Sam Goodchild
As the most recent member of the crew, Sam competed in the 2011 Transat Jacques Vabre race alongside Ned Collier Wakefield, winning the prologue race. Sam has already completed 5 Atlantic crossings, including one aboard the original Concise. After winning the Artemis Offshore Academy Scholarship, he spent last season training and competing with some of the world’s best offshore racers in the Figaro Class.
Tom Smedley
Tom joined the crew last season and bringing with him a high standard of helming. Sailing to an Olympic level and winning the European Youth Championships in 2003 are just a few of his many achievements. Tom is now completing his training as a doctor at UCL, having graduated from Cambridge University.
Tristan Jaques
Tristan joined Team Concise in 2008. He was brought on board for his strong background as a helmsman with National, European and World titles under his belt – as well as experience of competing at Olympic level. Tristan is looking forward to the inshore events as well as the Round Britain and Ireland Race later this year and next years RORC 600 out of Antigua.
Tom Dawson
Tom Dawson is no stranger to high performance sailing. He was a member of the Team GBR 49er squad for five years and secured numerous top international results in various skiff classes. Tom then chose to shift his focus to big boat racing. As trimmer on various grand prix yachts, he is a Commodores Cup winner, Class 40 World Champion and 40ft Round Britain and Ireland World record holder.
Dan Gohl
Dan Gohl has been sailing professionally since 2006 after participating in Kit Hobday's Bear of Britain trials. Having been involved with TeamConcise from its beginings, Dan has now sailed many miles in Class40s and was the one half of the 2007 Transat Jacques Vabre two-handed crew.
Concentrating on his skills as a bowman, Dan spends his time racing around the UK, Dubai and Asia
Pete Goss (team mentor)
World renowned, offshore, shorthanded sailor Pete Goss is new to the team this season, competing with and mentoring the team Pete hopes to combine his wealth of experience with the teams young talent with the view to progressing into the future.
